Multiple MLS teams showing interest in Montreal Impact's No. 1 spot in Allocation Ranking

Montreal's Klopas: "Multiple teams" have interest in Impact's No. 1 Allocation Ranking

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – The Montreal Impact now hold the top spot in the MLS allocation order, moving up in the league’s ranking after New York City FC used its spot to acquire US men’s national teamer Mix Diskerud on Tuesday.

According to Impact head coach Frank Klopas, multiple teams have already been in touch with Montreal about trading for their first spot.

Though Klopas wouldn’t name any specific clubs, it’s been reported that the New York Red Bulls, LA Galaxy and Philadelphia Union are interested in acquiring US international Sacha Kljestan from Belgian side Anderlecht, with Kljestan more than likely going through the allocation process should he choose to re-join the league.

“There’s a lot of interest,” Klopas told reporters on Tuesday at the 2015 adidas MLS Player Combine. “Obviously I think it’s an important position that we have. We just have to look for us at who’s going to come in – [which] I have some idea of – then if it makes sense for us, we can make our team better. But for sure, there’s been interest from teams.”

“We haven’t received any official offers yet, but there’s just been interest from multiple teams. I’ll just say it like that.”
