Montreal Impact vs. New York Red Bulls
STADE SAPUTO, Montreal
August 5, 2015 (MLS Game #223)
8 pm ET (MLS LIVE)

A critical match in the Eastern Conference kicks off on Wednesday evening when the Montréal Impact play host to the New York Red Bulls at Stade Saputo. Both teams enter the match holding down spots in the top six in the division and potential playoff placings, with the Impact tied for the last spot. The Impact return home off a second consecutive win, a 3-2 victory last Saturday at New York City FC, while the Red Bulls play a third consecutive road game after extending their winning run to three games with a 3-1 win at Philadelphia Union last weekend.

  • Ignacio Piatti scored two goals in a game for the second time in his MLS career as the Montréal Impact won back-to-back games for the first time since June 3-6, defeating New York City FC 3-2 on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Piatti scored two goals on Aug. 30, 2014 vs. Columbus – the first goals in his MLS career.
  • Bradley Wright-Phillips scored a fourth goal in the last five games – this one set up by brother Shaun, in his club and league debut – as the Red Bulls defeated Philadelphia Union 3-1 on Saturday evening at PPL Park, their third consecutive victory.
  • The Red Bulls have a four-game undefeated streak alive vs. the Impact, with three wins in that time. The last Montréal win in the series was a 1-0 win at Stade Saputo in the first meeting in 2013.
  • The Red Bulls have come away with points on two of their three trips to Montréal all-time, including a 2-2 draw in last year’s lone meeting in Québec. They won at Olympic Stadium in 2012. The Red Bulls have won all four league meetings lifetime at Red Bull Arena, though the teams reached a 1-1 draw in CONCACAF Champions League group play last year in Harrison.
