TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension

The Montreal Impact and forward Romell Quioto have agreed to a contract extension, the club announced Monday. The deal runs through the 2022 season with a club option for 2023.

Quioto, 29, enjoyed a career-best season by way of goals after joining Montreal via a trade from the Houston Dynamo. He had eight goals and six assists in 18 MLS appearances this year.

"We are happy to announce this contract extension for Romell, because it was important that he stayed with us,” sporting director Olivier Renard said in a club statement. “All year long he has proved his value on the pitch through his performances, but also with his winning and leader mentality. That's the fruit of his labor, now it's up to him to continue that work in order to achieve the club's goals in the years to come."

Quioto had 15 goals and 17 assists in 72 regular season matches with the Dynamo after coming to MLS from Olimpia in his native Honduras.
