MLS Classics: Old-school rivals meet in heated playoff clash

MLS Classics: Fire stage comeback against hated Revs

The shine has mostly worn off, but back in the 2000s the Chicago Fire and New England Revolution met almost every year in the MLS Cup Playoffs.

This was true for the 2009 season, when the two teams met in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The first leg saw the Revs earn a 2-1 win at home, with Shalrie Joseph providing the game-winning goal in the 75th minute. This set the stage for a return leg at Toyota Park with a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals on the line and you can watch a replay of the match at 4 pm ET.

Some legendary names featured in the match including Brian McBride and Cuauhtemoc Blanco, both on the Fire side, while the Revs were on their last legs of one of the greatest teams in MLS history and searching for an elusive MLS Cup win.
