As expected, the LA Galaxy and midfielder Stefan Ishizaki have mutually parted ways, the club announced on Monday.

Ishizaki posted an open letter to the club's fans after LA's 4-0 win over Toronto FC on Saturday evening, saying that he would be returning to his native Sweden for family reasons. LA Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena confirmed the news after Saturday's game, in which Ishizaki had an assist, and the move was made official on Monday.

“We want to thank Stefan for a year and a half of unwavering dedication, effort and professionalism as a member of this club,” Arena said in a statement provided by the team. “Stefan is a talented player and a good person. We wish him and his family the best of luck.”

In total, Ishizaki finished his Galaxy career with 50 appearances and 41 starts while recording six goals and 12 assists. He also added an assist in the 2014 MLS Cup to help the Galaxy to a record fifth MLS Cup title. Additionally, he was a finalist for the 2014 MLS Newcomer of the Year Award.
