Jair Marrufo will be the man the middle for the 2015 MLS season opener.


The Professional Referee Organization announced on Tuesday that Marrufo has been put in charge of the first MLS game of the new year between the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire on March 6. Marrufo will be flanked by assistant referees Frank Anderson and Corey Rockwell, and Alejandro Mariscal will serve as the fourth official for the match at StubHub Center.



Marrufo was in charge of 16 MLS regular season games last season and officiated the second leg of the Western Conference Championship series between the Seattle Sounders and the Galaxy, who went on to win MLS Cup.


Kickoff for the Galaxy-Fire opener is set for 10 pm ET on March 6. The game will be broadcast nationally on UniMas.
